“I actually want to keep you where you are,” Trump said at a White House healthcare roundtable event in a reference to Hassett, adding that he doesn’t “want to lose him.”
Who Will Trump Nominate as Fed Chair?
Hassett’s odds of being nominated by Trump on the prediction platform Polymarket dropped to 15% from 32% following the comment, while former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh’s odds rose to 60% from 34%. Fed Governor Christopher Waller holds 14% odds.
Trump recently communicated to close associates that he may favor keeping Hassett in place because he appreciates Hassett’s defense of his policies on television, according to The Wall Street Journal.
