The development comes after Trump spoke with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over the phone on Monday, with both sides describing the call positively. “It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

Trump Sends ‘Border Czar’ to Minnesota

Earlier in the day, Trump said he would send “Border Czar” Tom Homan to Minnesota while announcing an investigation into welfare fraud within the state. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) veteran, Homan is seen favoring a more targeted enforcement approach rather than a broad strategy.

Meanwhile, Trump declined to take a stance on the shooting of Pretti, contrasting with other administration officials who said Pretti was at fault for bringing a gun to the protest. The case is currently being investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
