The Trump administration is making a push to advance robotics technology and is weighing an executive order to accelerate its development, according to Politico. In addition, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has recently met with robotics CEOs and is “all in,” according to three people familiar with the situation.

“We are committed to robotics and advanced manufacturing because they are central to bringing critical production back to the United States,” said a Department of Commerce spokesperson.
U.S. Eyes New Robotics Push
Another source added that the Department of Transportation is expected to announce a robotics working group as soon as the end of the year. Robotics stocks, like Tesla (TSLA), Serve Robotics (SERV), and Richtech Robotics (RR) are rising on the news.
Following an earlier effort to boost AI innovation, the Trump administration now seeks to make progress on the robotics front, possibly in a bid to remain competitive with China. According to the International Federation of Robotics, China had over two million operational robots in 2024, leading the world.
