Would you like to buy a Mustang from legacy automaker Ford (F)? For many people, this is at least a qualified yes. For some, it represents the culmination of a lifelong dream. But for Ford, it represents a possibility, as it just released new lease offers for September. That news perked some ears up, and gave investors a reason to buy in. Ford shares gained fractionally in Wednesday afternoon’s trading.

The latest reports note that, with the lease offers, a Mustang Coupe EcoBoost can now be had for an initial payment of $3,179 and $339 per month with the Ford Credit Red Carpet Lease plan. The EcoBoost Fastback, meanwhile, comes in at $3,724 due at signing and $388 per month for 48 months. And at the highest end of the scale, the EcoBoost Premium Convertible, comes in at $487 per month for 48 months, with that initial payment of $4,991.
The good news is that these offers all come with a waived security deposit, but do not include taxes, title fees and license fees. And those who are interested will, unfortunately, not have long to get in on the deals as these expire September 30. Regardless, it is a safe bet that customers who were looking for a new car now, and had an interest in a Mustang, are a little more likely to sign up as a result of these more attractive lease terms.
The Surprising Trade-In Winner
If you were not already aware that there were some Ford Excursions that run on diesel fuel, you were not alone. And you may also not be aware that these vehicles are proving surprise winners in trade-in stakes as well. One diesel Excursion driver noted that, whenever he stopped by a car dealership, dealers were asking if he wanted to trade in the car. That may not sound like much, but our driver revealed that that is the first question dealers are asking, universally.
In fact, the diesel Excursion is being referred to as “…one of the jewels of the current resale market.” Reports suggest that the current trade-in value on a diesel Excursion can start around $5,000 and go all the way up to $35,000. One driver reported that his Excursion with a V10 engine that had 399,550 miles on it landed $4,500 in trade.
