XPeng (XPEV) has begun mass production of its first robotaxi at its Guangzhou headquarters, with plans to start pilot operations in the second half of the year and target fully driverless deployment by early 2027, marking a key step in its broader push into autonomous driving and robotics amid intensifying competition in China’s EV market, Reuters reports. The company will likely produce hundreds to thousands of robotaxis over the next 12 to 18 months, President Brian Gu told Reuters last month.
