In a blog post, the Waymo (GOOGL) team said, “Starting today, Waymo is welcoming the first public riders into our fully autonomous ride-hailing service in Nashville. Download the Waymo app and get ready to ride, as we begin inviting riders on a rolling basis. This approach allows us to thoughtfully scale while delivering a consistent, high-quality experience. Waymo offers a new way to move through Nashville-whether you’re catching a show, meeting friends, or exploring the city. Our initial 60-square-mile service area covers Music City’s most iconic spots, from the honky tonks of Broadway and the boutiques of 12 South, to the energy of Midtown and the foodie scene in East Nashville. Plus, we are currently testing at Nashville International Airport and intend to serve travelers there in the near future…We’re excited to provide riders with more choice. In addition to hailing fully autonomous rides on the Waymo app, we’ll also start serving rides on the Lyft (LYFT) app later this year. Lyft will also serve as our fleet management partner in Nashville via Flexdrive.”
