UPS (UPS) announced earlier that it is rolling out radio frequency identification package sensing across its U.S. small package network, bringing unprecedented visibility and reliability to customers of all sizes. “Today, RFID sensing technology is in all UPS package delivery vehicles in the U.S., in the company’s delivery facilities across the country and on every package shipped through over 5,500 The UPS Store locations, including customer return shipments,” UPS said. The announcement marks a commitment from UPS to continue to invest in RFID, building on the more than $100M it has invested to date to develop and implement the technology. The Fly notes that shares of Impinj (PI), a manufacturer of RFID devices and software, are up 3.2% to $108.06 in afternoon trading.
