The U.S. Department of Energy will acquire a 5% interest in Lithium Americas (LAC) as well as a separate 5% stake in the company’s Thacker Pass lithium mine joint venture with General Motors (GM), Reuters’ Ernest Scheyder reports, citing a source familiar with the negotiations.
