U.S. authorizes Trinidad, Tobago to resume work on Venezuela project, FT says

The U.S. has authorized Trinidad and Tobago to resume work with Venezuela on an offshore gas project led by Shell (SHEL) after revoking the permit earlier this year, Joe Daniels and Jamie Smyth of The Financial Times reports. The Trinidadian National Gas Company’s development of the Dragon gasfield has been disrupted since 2019 due to U.S. sanctions. “The licence, which was granted yesterday, was granted pursuant to powers conferred by US law in the Venezuela sanctions regulations,” attorney-general John Jeremie said, according to the Times.
