President Trump, while speaking at a White House healthcare event, said of Kevin Hassett, “I actually want to keep you where you are if you want to know the truth. Kevin Hassett is so good. I’m saying, wait a minute, if I move him, these Fed guys, certainly the one we have now, they don’t talk much. I would lose you. It’s a serious concern to me.” The comments have increased speculation that Trump will pick former Fed governor Kevin Warsh to be the next Fed chair, according to the Wall Street Journal. Trump told Reuters this week he was debating whether to pick one of “the two Kevins” when Jerome Powell’s term as chair expires in May. On the Polymarket, the odds of Hassett’s selection dropped to roughly one in six, from more than one in three earlier on Friday, the Journal notes.
