U.S. officials are saying in private that they might not impose long-promised tariffs on semiconductors soon, possibly delaying a core tenet of President Trump’s economic agenda, Reuters’ Laurie Chen, Trevor Hunnicutt, and Jeffrey Dastin report. Officials have sent such messages in recent days to stakeholders in government and the private sector, the authors say, citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter and a third person briefed on the discussions. A fourth source told Reuters that the administration was taking a more cautious approach to avoid creating further tensions with China. Publicly traded companies in the space include AMD (AMD), Intel (INTC), Marvell (MRVL), Microchip (MCHP), Micron (MU), Nvidia (NVDA), Qualcomm (QCOM) and Texas Instruments (TXN).
