After the White House released a fact sheet asking Congress to work on the “Great Healthcare Plan,” TD Securities said it sees the fact sheet in isolation as a positive for insurers, seemingly avoiding potentially more onerous requirements. Similarly, it views the fact sheet largely as a positive for PBMs and distributors, but the firm adds that there is not yet a detailed outline of the requirements of this bill, nor does it “understand the political appetite herein, especially given the upcoming midterm elections.” Publicly traded health insurance companies include CVS Health (CVS), Centene (CNC), Cigna (CI), Elevance Health (ELV), Humana (HUM), Molina Healthcare (MOH) and UnitedHealth (UNH). Operators of pharmacy-benefit managers include CVS Caremark, Express Scripts, and Optum.
