President Donald Trump’s administration is looking to sell stock this year in Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FMCC) in an offering that could value the companies at roughly $500B or more combined, The Wall Street Journal’s Corrie Driebusch, AnnaMaria Andriotis, and Gina Heeb report. The plans being discussed involve selling 5%-15% of the stock, people familiar with the matter say. It is unclear whether the mortgage companies would IPO as one company or two and it is also unclear whether Fannie and Freddie will remain under government conservatorship.
