Toyota (TM) is delaying construction of a lithium-ion battery plant in Fukuoka Prefecture amid sluggish demand for electric vehicles in the global market, Asahi Shimbun reported Monday, citing a company source. The decision comes as Toyota Battery Co., which was expected to start construction of the factory as early as this year, faced higher construction budgets due to rising costs for materials and labor.
