A tornado damaged part of Rivian’s (RIVN) central Illinois plant over the weekend, with the area of the plant struck being used for parts storage and logistics for Rivian’s upcoming R2, which is slated to be on sale this spring, CNBC’s Michael Wayland reports, citing a message sent to staff from CEO RJ Scaringe. The CEO said operations in the damaged area are expected to restart this week, while other major portions of the facility operating as planned, the author says. No injuries have been reported as a result of the damage, a company spokeswoman told CNBC.
