TikTok, Shein, Xiaomi (XIACY), and three other Chinese companies have been named in a privacy complaint filed by Australian advocacy group Noyb, alleging the firms were unlawfully sending European Union user data to China, Supantha Mukherjee and Foo Yun Chee of Reuters reports. Noyb has filed a total of six complaints in Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Austria seeking to suspend data transfers to China and is also calling for fines that can reach up to 4% of the firm’s global revenue.
