Chinese conglomerate Tencent (TCEHY) was the undisclosed main financial backer of game developer Wildlight Entertainment, which released its debut free-to-play multiplayer title “Highguard” late last month, Game File’s Stephen Totilo reports. Neither company had previously disclosed the relationship, the author says, noting that Wildlight’s funding has been a mystery surrounding the studio and its debut game, whose tumultuous launch window has already led to layoffs at the studio.
