As previously reported, Summit Insights upgraded Western Digital (WDC) to Buy from Hold. While Western Digital is trailing Buy-rated Seagate (STX) in HAMR technology, the firm thinks the company’s Shingled Media Recording technology gives it legs to remain competitive in the market in the short-to-medium term. In spite of import tariff uncertainty, Summit’s industry research indicates large cap HDD demand-supply dynamics will remain favorable through the second half of 2025. The firm expects industry pricing for large cap HDD to also remain favorable through the second half of the year.
