Southern Peru Copper Corporation of Grupo Mexico has said that production at its smelting facility has been suspended due to supply issues, with its long-term contract supply for April reduced to nothing, SMM’s William Gu reports, citing market sources. Meanwhile, the plant’s originally planned maintenance in June-July will further affect supply during that period, the author notes.
