Sony (SONY) and Singapore’s GIC are establishing a joint venture to buy music copyrights, with plans to invest $2B-$3B in the endeavor, Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw reports, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Sony’s music unit will manage the acquired catalogs, handling distribution, and licensing music for use in films and commercials, the author notes.
