The Senate voted 51-to-44 in favor of a joint resolution that nullifies the Environmental Protection Agency notice titled “California State Motor Vehicle and Engine Pollution Control Standards; Advanced Clean Cars II; Waiver of Preemption; Notice of Decision.” The measure would void an Environmental Protection Agency waiver issued under former President Joe Biden allowing California to enact emissions standards even stricter than the U.S. government’s requirements to increase sales of electric and other zero-emission vehicles and block a California program banning gasoline-powered cars and other vehicles by 2035. Publicly traded companies in the space include Ford (F), General Motors (GM), Honda (HMC), Mercedes-Benz (MBGYY), Nissan (NSANY), Stellantis (STLA), Tesla (TSLA), Toyota (TM) and Volkswagen (VWAGY).
