Senate Democrats have pared back their demands to end the U.S. government shutdown, but are insisting on a one-year extension of expiring Affordable Care Act health care subsidies in exchange for votes on a temporary spending bill, reported Bloomberg’s Erik Wasson and Steven Dennis. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer is quoted as calling the offer a “simple compromise” and a “reasonable offer.”
