China’s ByteDance is in talks with Samsung (SSNLF) to manufacture an AI chip, Reuters’ Liam Mo, Fanny Potkin, and Che Pan report. ByteDance aims to receive sample chips by end-March, sources familiar with the matter say, adding that the TikTok parent plans to produce at least 100,000 units of the chip, designed for AI inference tasks, this year. One of the sources says Bytedance is looking to progressively ramp production to up to 350,000 units.
