Quantum Leap: Sealsq technology deployed to protect blockchain assets

Welcome to the latest edition of “Quantum Leap” where The Fly decodes news and activity in the quantum computing space.
EQUITY OFFERING: Sealsq (LAES) disclosed Monday after the close that it entered into a controlled equity offering sales agreement with Cantor Fitzgerald and Maxim Group, dated May 19, relating to the sale of ordinary shares. Sealsq may offer and sell its ordinary shares having an aggregate offering price of up to $100M from time to time through or to Cantor, acting as the sole designated sales agent.
POST-QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY: Sealsq also announced the deployment of its advanced post-quantum cryptographic technology to protect Bitcoin wallets from future quantum computer attacks. The company said, “Integrated into the cutting-edge QS7001 secure element, this solution marks a significant step in ensuring the long-term security of blockchain assets in a quantum era. Bitcoin wallets rely on elliptic curve cryptography, specifically the secp256k1 curve, to generate public-private key pairs. While secure against classical attacks, quantum computers using Shor’s algorithm could potentially derive private keys from exposed public keys, compromising wallets when addresses are reused or transactions are broadcasted. This vulnerability threatens the integrity of decentralized finance as quantum computing advances. SEALSQ addresses the threat with a robust PQC stack based on CRYSTALS-Kyber and CRYSTALS-Dilithium, NIST-standardized algorithms designed to withstand quantum attacks. These lattice-based algorithms ensure security against Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms, offering forward secrecy and unforgeable signatures.”
FLEET OPTIMIZATION: IonQ (IONQ) announced an investment partnership with Einride to explore how quantum computing can drive the next generation of fleet optimization and logistics. The company said, “Together, IonQ and Einride will develop quantum applications that address large-scale routing and scheduling problems that have traditionally challenged classical computing. By combining IonQ’s advanced quantum systems with Einride’s expertise in autonomous fleet logistics, the two companies will work to unlock new levels of efficiency, reliability, and sustainability for the global freight industry.”
ALGORITHM DEMONSTRATION: Sealsq showcased the power of post-quantum cryptography with live demonstrations of NIST-standardized Crystal Kyber and Crystal Dilithium algorithms on its secure devices during the “Quantum Days 2025” event held in France. Presented by Danielle Fonte, a member of Sealsq’s Product Security Team, the demos underscored Sealsq’s commitment to quantum-resistant security, aligning with broader efforts like Quantum Key Distribution to safeguard connected systems against future quantum threats. With quantum computing challenging traditional cryptography, Sealsq is advancing PQC to deliver security for IoT ecosystems Like QKD, which leverages quantum principles for secure key exchange, Sealsq’s PQC solutions aim to protect data integrity and confidentiality in a quantum era.
ADVANTAGE2: D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) announced the general availability of its Advantage2 quantum computing system, an annealing quantum computer capable of solving computationally complex problems beyond the reach of classical computers. Featuring D-Wave’s most advanced quantum processor to date, the Advantage2 system is commercial-grade, and built to address real-world use cases in areas such as optimization, materials simulation and artificial intelligence.
SUPERCOMPUTER AUGMENTATION: Nvidia (NVDA) announced the opening of the Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI Technology, or G-QuAT, which hosts ABCI-Q – the world’s largest research supercomputer dedicated to quantum computing. The company said, “Quantum processors promise to augment AI supercomputers in solving some of the world’s most complex challenges, spanning industries including healthcare, energy and finance. By enabling quantum-GPU computing at an unprecedented scale, ABCI-Q marks a profound leap toward realizing practical, accelerated quantum systems.” Delivered by Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, the ABCI-Q supercomputer features 2,020 Nvidia H100 GPUs interconnected by the Nvidia Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform.
EARNINGS RECAP: Quantum-Si (QSI) reported first quarter earnings last week. “We completed a productive quarter, including launching Platinum Pro, completing the training of Avantor, our North American channel partner, and solid progress across all of our development programs,” said Jeff Hawkins, CEO. “In response to the strong momentum we are observing across international markets, we expanded our international channel partner network which now stands at 23 partners. Even with this progress, the life sciences market is facing challenges in the U.S. due to NIH funding and tariff uncertainty, and we are seeing the effects of this as well. Nonetheless, we remain optimistic about the opportunity in pharma and biotech markets as well as internationally, where the accessibility of Platinum Pro makes it one of the only viable advanced proteomics technologies available to customers. In addition to our commercial progress, our R&D team continues to execute well, and our version 4 Sequencing Kit remains on track for Q3 2025 launch, and we remain on track to achieve successful protein sequencing on a prototype Proteus system by the end of 2025. Further, we have also launched the development of a version 3 Library Preparation Kit, which we expect to launch by the end of 2025. We remain confident in the long-term market opportunity in proteomics and the technology roadmap we are executing against to capitalize on that opportunity.”
