James Comer, Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, is investigating whether technology platforms are using AI to “secretly charge consumers different prices.” Booking Holdings (BKNG), Expedia (EXPE), Uber (UBER), Lyft (LYFT) and Instacart (CART) are the companies listed as being queried. “Algorithms + personal data may be used to find your maximum willingness to pay (or so-called ‘pain point’) and raise prices,” the Committee said on X.
