Last week, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called for a “code red” to beat back the threat of Google, Sam Schechner, Berber Jin, and Keach Hagey of The Wall Street Journal reports. The startup intends to pause its side projects for eight weeks in favor improving ChatGPT. Altman is making a major strategic course correction and has suggested that in order for the company to survive, it may need to focus on giving consumers what they want.
