OpenAI is close to finalizing the first phase of a funding round expected to bring in more than $100B, Shirin Ghaffary, Josh Sisco, Edward Ludlow, and Natasha Mascarenhas of Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. As OpenAI prepares to spend trillions in infrastructure, the overall value of the company could exceed $850B, higher than the $830B initially expected, the sources added. The first part of the funding round will be funded by Amazon (AMZN), SoftBank (SFTBY), Nvidia (NVDA), and Microsoft (MSFT), with commitments expected to be near $100B if each of those companies invested near the highest ranges of what has been discussed, the sources said.
