One in seven people signed up for Affordable Care Act, ACA, plans this year failed to pay after costs rose, Anna Wilde Mathews of The Wall Street Journal reports, citing a new analysis from Wakely Consulting Group, provided exclusively to the Journal. Nationally, around 14% of those enrolled didn’t pay their first bill for January coverage and, in some states, this percentage was a quarter or more. Normally, the drop off in membership early in the year is in the midsingle-digit range. Publicly traded companies in the space include CVS Health (CVS), Centene (CNC), Cigna (CI), Elevance Health (ELV), Humana (HUM), Molina Healthcare (MOH) and UnitedHealth (UNH).
