Nokia, Kongsberg sign agreement to advance defense communications

Nokia (NOK) and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on enhancing tactical communications solutions for the defense sector. The agreement brings together Kongsberg’s expertise in military tactical communications and Nokia’s leadership in commercial 4G, 5G, and private wireless technologies to deliver networks for defense organizations and allied nations. The collaboration will aim to simplify the deployment of 5G in tactical systems, enhancing battlefield communications. Longer term, the companies will look at future technologies such as Nokia’s 6G “network as a sensor” to enhance situational awareness and military readiness.
