Businessman Nelson Tanure is negotiating to acquire Novonor’s majority stake in Braskem (BAK), Rachel Gamarski and Leda Alvim of Bloomberg report, citing a person with direct knowledge of the matter. Tanure plans to focus on Braskem’s expansion in the Rio de Janeiro area using natural gas from Brazil’s pre-salt reserves, the source told Bloomberg. The offer comes as Novonor, which jointly owns Braskem with Petrobras (PBR), has been trying to sell its stake for years, Bloomberg points out.
