Elon Musk’s lieutenants have communicated chip suppliers including Applied Materials (AMAT), Tokyo Electron (TOELY), and Lam Research (LRCX) for his envisioned Terafab, Mayumi Negishi, Edward Ludlow, Takashi Mochizuki, and Ian King of Bloomberg reports. Staff working for the joint venture between Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX have asked for price quotes and delivery times for chipmaking gear, sources familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Musk’s lieutenants have contacted makers of photomasks, substrates, etchers, depositors, cleaning devices, testers, and other tools, the sources added.
