Stock futures gained modestly in early trading as a strong print from Intel helped boost semiconductor names and the broader market. The futures have been given a further jolt after a delayed government report showed that consumer inflation has come in softer than expected across the board.

Gold continues to receive safe-haven bids amid policy uncertainty and a delayed flow of U.S. economic data caused by the ongoing government shutdown.
In pre-market trading, S&P 500 futures rose 0.59%, Nasdaq futures rose 0.87% and Dow futures rose 0.47%.
