Momentus (MNTS) announced it was awarded a $2.5M contract on September 29 by NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center to conduct a demonstration on-orbit of a new thruster called the Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine, or RDRE. Momentus will provide the Vigoride satellite platform and operate it in space, enabling the RDRE thruster developed by Juno Propulsion to be tested in orbit. Momentus CEO John Rood noted this is the sixth contract Momentus has been awarded in recent months by NASA.
