Microsoft (MSFT) may avoid a potentially steep antitrust fine in the EU by agreeing to sell Teams separately from its Office 365 and Microsoft 365 packages, Bloomberg’s Samuel Stolton reports. According to people familiar with the matter, regulators in the EU will accept Microsoft’s promise to carve out Teams from its Office packages after rivals and customers raised no serious objections in a so-called market test. The decision, which include an obligation for Microsoft to charge less for packages without Teams and to improve interoperability for rival software using Microsoft services, is expected to be approved int he coming weeks.
