Microsoft (MSFT) is probing whether a leak from its early alert system for cybersecurity firms let Chinese cyberattackers exploit flaws in its SharePoint service before they were fixed, Bloomberg’s Ryan Gallagher, Margi Murphy, and Patrick Howell O’Neill reports, citing people familiar with the matter. The tech and software giant is looking into whether the program, which is meant to give cybersecurity experts an opportunity to repair computer systems before the revelation of new flaws, led to the widespread breach of vulnerabilities in its SharePoint software worldwide this week, the authors note.
