Just months after Sony (SONY) applied for a patent for an AI PlayStation game assistant, it has been discovered that Microsoft (MSFT) has also filed for a patent covering an AI helper that can temporarily take over a gaming session on Xbox and a play a game for the user, Eurogamer’s Matt Wales reports. The Xbox maker filed the recently published patent application covering “state management for video game help sessions” back in 2024, with the patent filing also discussing the implementation of cloud-based help sessions that could involve text, chat, or video-based communication, Wales notes.
