Meta Platforms (META) recently told some staff in its Meta Superintelligence Labs group, the company’s new AI team, that its next generation large-language model, known internally as Avocado, is “now Meta’s most capable pre-trained base model to date,” The Information’s Jyoti Mann reports, citing an internal memo dated January 20. In the memo, the Facebook parent said it had completed pretraining for the model, an initial phase in the development of AI models in which they learn general knowledge, patterns, and relationships after exposure to large swathes of data, the author notes.
