Meta (META) has started to remove advertisements from Facebook and Instagram by law firms seeking clients that allege social media harm while under the age of 18, Axios’ Dan Primack reports, citing identification of over a dozen deactivated ads. The move comes just two weeks after Meta and YouTube (GOOGL) were found negligent in a California case regarding social media addiction. “We’re actively defending ourselves against these lawsuits and are removing ads that attempt to recruit plaintiffs for them,” a Meta spokesperson told Axios. “We will not allow trial lawyers to profit from our platforms while simultaneously claiming they are harmful.”
