Meta plans to reintroduce facial recognition through its smart glasses this year via a feature called “Name Tag,” allowing users to identify people and access information using its AI assistant, The New York Times’ Kashmir Hill, Kalley Huang, and Mike Isaac report. According to four people involved with the plans, the company is evaluating safety and privacy risks, and earlier plans to pilot the feature in a limited setting have not yet been implemented.
