Laser Photonics (LASE), together with Fonon Technologies, an affiliated company within the LASE Group of Companies, announced that the companies are advancing their jointly developed Laser Shield Anti-Drone System to the system prototyping and extended range trials phase, following the successful completion of initial testing. The LSAD is a directed-energy transportable defense system that utilizes a high-density laser beam to provide rapid, precise, and cost-effective defense against unauthorized drones. It directly addresses the increasing use of drones in conflict zones and for illegal activities. “The successful completion of initial LSAD testing marks an important milestone in our LASE Group of Companies partner, Fonon Technologies,” said Wayne Tupuola, Chief Executive Officer of Laser Photonics. “The threat posed by small, low-cost drones is real and growing, and defense stakeholders need proven, rapidly deployable solutions that can be integrated into existing infrastructure. By advancing to system prototyping and extended range trials, we are taking a deliberate, disciplined approach to bringing a cost-effective directed-energy capability to market. We believe the LSAD platform, manufactured right here in Lake Mary, positions us well to support the urgent counter-drone requirements of the U.S. military, government agencies, and our allied partners.”
