Japan PM Takaichi to dissolve Parliament, Nikkei say

Japan PM Sanae Takaichi intends to inform LDP party officials that she will dissolve the House of Representatives at the start of the regular Diet session on January 23rd, leading to a general election while her approval ratings are high, Nikkei reports. By holding snap elections, Takaichi is hoping to increase the number of seats for the ruling party and promote policies such as an active fiscal policy and security, the report added.
