Jacobs (J), GHD and WSP have been appointed in a joint venture to design five new underground stations for Sydney Metro West – Stations Package West, one of the largest and most significant public transport projects currently underway in Australia. The 14.9-mile Sydney Metro West alignment will connect Greater Parramatta to the Sydney central business district. It will play a key role in improving access to fast, reliable public transport for growing communities, strengthening connections between Sydney’s inner and western suburbs and supporting the delivery of new housing, jobs and local services along the corridor. Stations Package West is being delivered by Gamuda as lead contractor with design by Jacobs, GHD and WSP. The joint venture has been engaged to provide integrated engineering design services for Stations Package West – the stations at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays. Sustainability will be a core focus of the design approach, with station designs targeting a 6-Star Green Star As Built rating, reflecting a focus on high-performance and environmentally responsible infrastructure.
