India proposes rules requiring phone makers to share source code, Reuters says

India has proposed requiring smartphone makers to share source code with the government and make changes to its software, Aditya Kalra and Munsif Vengattil of Reuters reports. Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (SSNLF) have been working behind-the-scenes to oppose the proposal, arguing the package of 83 security standards lacks any global precedent and risks revealing proprietary information, according to four people familiar with the discussions and a Reuters review of government documents.
