IMAX (IMAX) announced that “Superman”, from Warner Bros. (WBD) and DC Studios, had a global opening of $30.4M. The debut was highlighted by a $19.1M opening in North America, representing 15.6% of the film’s domestic total, which the company said is its highest-ever market share for a film opening above $100M domestically. Internationally, the film delivered $11.3M in IMAX box office. CEO Rich Gelfond said the results continue a trend of filmmakers leaning into IMAX and audiences responding in outsized numbers.
