IBM (IBM), which owns The Weather Channel website, is facing a proposed class action alleging the company violated federal privacy law by sharing personal information of users who watched videos online to advertisers without consent, Bloomberg’s Cassandre Coyer reports, citing the suit. The complaint claimed IBM deployed tracking technology on its weather.com site that disclosed users’ personally identifiable information and video viewing data, including their location and viewing history, with analytics and advertising companies.
