U.S. state governors will visit the White House today to sign an agreement with the Trump administration intended to curb rising electricity costs, two sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters, reports Jarrett Renshaw and Tim McLaughlin. The agreement includes price caps for two years on future auctions in the PJM Interconnection grid covering 67M people in mid-Atlantic and inland states and forces new data center operators to take on a greater share of the cost of expanding the grid, sources tell Reuters. The visiting governors will be from among the 13 states within the PJM grid, according to the sources. Shares of Vistra (VST), Constellation Energy (CEG) and NRG Energy (NRG) are moving lower in early trading.
