Google has signed agreements with five U.S. electric utilities to curtail its electricity use during peak demand, Laila Kearney of Reuters reports. One of the biggest obstacles in Big Tech’s race is immediate access to large amounts of electricity and, with power supplies running short in some regions of the country, these agreements will reduce Google’s electricity consumption at certain data centers when demand on the grid is high.
