Alphabet’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) Google is offering buyouts to U.S. workers in the knowledge and information division, which includes the company’s core search and much of the ads business, The Information’s Miles Kruppa and Catherine Perloff report, citing an email a senior executive sent to staff. The move comes as the company’s search unit faces significant threats from ChatGPT and after its loss in a U.S. antitrust case that could affect its ability to distribute its search product, the authors note.
