Goldman Sachs (GS) is searching for acquisitions, but the speculation about the firm buying Northern Trust (NTRS) is “at this point, likely nothing more than that,” Charles Gasparino reports for The New York Post’s “On The Money.” According to sources, Northern Trust’s CEO has been dismissive of a potential deal with Goldman, “and so are the people at Goldman.” Gasparino named State Street (STT) as a possible target for Goldman, as well as BNY Mellon (BK). People close to Goldman say that a more immediate deal could be in the private credit or non-bank lenders space.
