General Motors (GM) plans to buy batteries from China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology for its second-generation Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle despite tariffs, Christopher Otts of Wall Street Journal reports, citing people familiar with the plan. GM to buy the batteries from China for about two years until its Korean partner LG Energy Solution can manufacture the lower-cost batteries in the U.S., sources told the Journal.
